I also need to go to Strava and give the activitry and name and change the activity type to Virtual Ride as well. I then have to edit the Garmin Connect activity by giving it a name and changing the activity type to Virtual Ride. At this point it syncs immediately to Strava. I select the newly create Fit file and import it into Garmin Connect. I then go to Garmin Connect, go to the Cloud Up Arrow icon and select Import Data. Once I have done this I go to Activity -> Export and I export the activity as a Garmin Fit file. This is fixed by going to the Details tab and changing the activity type from Swim to Bike. During the import process you’ll be asked to select the date of the workout and validate it.įor some reason my imported files are tagged as swims. Import the iFit exported tcx file into Golden Cheetah. The first part also works for importing to Garmin only. If you use Garmin Connect (as I do) and have it set to automatically sync to Strava, then follow the following steps. Save your changes and you should be all good. This will keep the GPX route of the maps workout in the activity, but it will remove all segments for the ride. If you want to avoid the wrath of the Strava community, remember to change the activity type to Virtual Ride. Note : If you have done a maps based workout Strava will upload this activity as a “real world” ride and the chances are you’ll have smashed a few KOM’s etc on segments.

Once it’s uploaded you can edit the activity by giving it a name, and changing the ride to a Virtual Ride plus any other things you wan tto do (aissign a gear to the activity etc). Select File from the left hand column, and then choose files, and then select the newly downloaded TCX file from your download folder. Go to Strava, go to the + sign and click on upload activity. This will have initiated a download of the tcx file to your downloads folder.Īt this point, if you plan to only import to Strava then do the following. Go to your workout on the web and go to the export button and select TCX file. If you plan to only upload to Strava then you do not need Golden Cheetah. Otherwise, if you just import the tcx file directly into Garmin, your disctance will be wrong and load of the other data doesn t get imported properly. I use this to convert the ifit exported file from tcx to Garmin Fit file which means all the data goes into Garmin correctly.
Garmin connect export issues software#
If you want to import into Garmin Connect then I would recommend downloading and installing a software package (free) called Golden Cheetah. I decided to write up the process I go through to get my activities from iFit into Garmin Connect and Strava since there seems to be a fair amount of confusion and whilst we all wish iFit would do an automated integration, this is the only way (AFAIK) to get most of the data from iFit to Garmin Connect and Strava.
Garmin connect export issues manual#
If you still want to take the manual approach (why?) then fee free to follow the steps below (again why?) Please note, it does require a subscription which costs £7.99 a year - but in my book that is WELL worth the money to save the steps I have had to take below. The only thing you then need to do is to change the workout type and the activity name (if you want to) in Garmin and you’re done. Just gets the data from iFit and puts it correctly into Garmin for you. This now means I can automatically sync my iFit activities into Garmin which in trun sync into Strava.
Garmin connect export issues update#
I have some exciting news for iFit users who want to get their iFit workouts from iFit into Garmin, Strava, or the majority of other sports services.Īn iOS (sorry no Android App right now) App call RunGap just released an update to their app that has added iFit integration. Many thanks for the annonymous reader who shared this process with us. Thought you might like to know so you can update your post about exporting iFit activity into Garmin Connect.
Garmin connect export issues for android#
I know this is a long process, but for Android users like me, it’s about as good as it gets. The TCX file doesn’t contain the power data, but the CSV does. This allows you to import the power data as well. tcx, and then use Golden Cheetah to convert to a. csv, you can use this web app ( ) to convert it to. They are an Android Phone user so are unable to use RunGap. I had this useful suggestion from a reader who shared their process for expporting to Garmin Connect.
